Students and Parents Against Risks to our Kids (S.P.A.R.K.) began when a group of Southlake residents gathered together to talk about the many risks facing our children. As the group gathered, it became apparent that we all have many concerns and an urgent need for information on how to keep our children safe. A core committee began searching for speakers and information sources that were then invited to share their expertise with our group. As we spread the word about the meetings, the S.P.A.R.K. organization began to grow.
Presently our members include parents, teens, business community members, school board members, school counselors and public safety officers, members of our worship community, doctors, hospitals, family therapists, attorneys, drug and alcohol counselors and representatives from Southlake Police services. Meetings are open to all who are interested to attend. S.P.A.R.K. welcomes you whether you can only attend an occasional meeting, or want to get heavily involved in making a change for our youth.
Students and Parents Against Risks to our Kids (S.P.A.R.K.) seeks to spark ideas, share information, identify needs, educate the community, mobilize resources, promote collaboration and advocate for sound public policy in a new commitment to empower our citizens in the battle against underage drinking, drugs, and internet perils.
SPARK meetings take place monthly, and dates of the meetings are announced on this website under Our Events tab. You can also check the City’s and CISD web calendars for time and location. S.P.A.R.K. is chaired by Laura Hill and Suzanne Maisto.
